What is an ACR-I Card (Alien Certificate of Registration)?【Philippine Study Visa Guide】

✅ What is an ACR-I Card?

The ACR-I Card (Alien Certificate of Registration – Identity Card) is an official identification document issued by the Philippine Bureau of Immigration. It is required for all foreign nationals staying in the Philippines for more than 60 days. Separate from the SSP (Special Study Permit), the ACR-I Card is a government-issued ID that allows the authorities to legally track and document foreign residents staying for extended periods.

In most language schools, students staying over 8 weeks are required to apply for the ACR-I Card before reaching the 60-day mark. Schools usually assist or accompany students during the application process.

✅ Why is it necessary?

The ACR-I Card is mandatory for any foreigner who plans to remain in the Philippines for 60 days or more, including those enrolled in language study programs. Without this card, visa extensions or other immigration procedures cannot be completed. While the SSP is typically applied for during the first week of school, the ACR-I Card must be applied for before the 60th day of stay.

✅ 申請手続き

Most language schools assist students staying over 8 weeks (9 weeks or more) in applying for the ACR-I Card. The process includes ARP (Alien Registration Program) registration, which involves biometric data collection such as fingerprinting.

Although the ARP itself does not have a separate fee, students must visit the Bureau of Immigration in person for this step, usually accompanied by a school staff member. The procedure includes fingerprint scanning and answering simple questions in English.

✅ 有効期間と更新

The ACR-I Card is valid for one year from the date of issue. For study programs of up to 24 weeks (6 months), one application is sufficient. Students staying over a year will need to renew the card.

料金

As of 2025, the cost for issuing an ACR-I Card is PHP 3,500. Schools typically coordinate the ACR-I Card application with the second visa extension, and students are advised of the necessary schedule to visit the immigration office in advance.

Please note that total immigration-related fees may vary depending on the duration of stay and the school’s service policy.

✅ 重要な注意事項

  • Biometric registration, including a photograph and fingerprints, is required for issuance.

  • In case of loss, students must report it immediately to their school and begin the reissuance process.

  • Students staying 59 days or less (e.g., in short-term programs such as 4-week ESL courses) do not need an ACR-I Card.
