Separate from the SSP (Special Study Permit), the ACR-I Card is a government-issued ID that allows the authorities to legally track and document foreign residents staying for extended periods.

In most language schools, students staying over 8 weeks are required to apply for the ACR-I Card before reaching the 60-day mark. Schools usually assist or accompany students during the application process.

The ACR-I Card is mandatory for any foreigner who plans to remain in the Philippines for 60 days or more, including those enrolled in language study programs. Without this card, visa extensions or other immigration procedures cannot be completed. While the SSP is typically applied for during the first week of school, the ACR-I Card must be applied for before the 60th day of stay.
